The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of mechanical systems in projects and evaluating the cost and schedule required to perform a project. The candidate will become familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to manage mechanical bid process including general conditions, HVAC, process piping and ducting, millwrighting, and structural steel
  • Perform cost comparison and analysis
  • Recruit and maintain relationships with quality reliable trade contractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Estimate cost of all mechanical plans including accurate quantity take-offs
  • Develop schedules and task durations
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new construction methods and markets
  • Establish and monitor budgets for all construction phases
  • Help identify cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures
  • Monitor plan changes
  • Estimate prices of all changes
  • Manage subcontractor solicitations as needed
  • Experience drafting subcontractor scopes of work
  • Ability to read and understand Contract Drawings and Specifications
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid bidding process
  • Assist with creating submittals and coordinate with project managers during pre-construction phase

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of construction experience preferred
  • Travel to job sites as needed
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends if needed
  • Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans
  • Proficient with MS Suite, Bluebeam, or similar takeoff software

LOCATION: NEW ORLEANS, LA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position of Pipe/Drainage Foreman will direct and manage the construction tasks and activities of craft and labor crews. The Pipe/Drainage Foreman and crew will be responsible for installing storm drain with 15” to 48” reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) in a safe and productive manner. This position manages the means and methods of the crew.

Rehab Drainage System Project includes demo of  8”, 12” & 21” U.C.P. and replace with new 15” & 48” RCP, precast inlet boxes and manholes.

DUTIES:

  • Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a 2-7 person crew.
  • Assist in directing field and subcontractor personnel to meet schedule and production goals.
  • Uses instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels and transit levels to set appropriate grade for pipe installation.
  • Utilizes heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill drainage pipe.
  • Sequences pipe installation to reduce inference with other project activities and the public.
  • Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company and Client safety program.
  • Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in the coordination of construction activities.
  • Maintains an organized job site.
  • Comply with federal, state and company environmental policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES:

Position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, handle objects, reach outward, and reach above head and shoulders, climb, squat, kneel, bend, and occasionally lift carry/push/pull/move/drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is outdoors. Working conditions range from frigid to hot temps, high winds, flying dust, slipping hazard conditions, and frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Minimum of three (3) years of experience of progressive responsibility on similar RCP drainage construction projects.

U.S. citizen or U.S. national

Must have a clean background check, required to work on US Government site.
